Course Description
Introduction to Vibration provides an overview of vibration analysis technology as it can be applied to predictive maintenance.  Course content includes the fundamentals of vibration analysis and the procedures used to implement predictive maintenance on rotating machinery used in manufacturing and plant facilities.  A series of lectures with live demonstrations, combined with case histories, are used to reinforce the principles learned.

Participants
This course is designed for individuals with no prior training or experience in the vibration measurement field.  It is aimed at the technician, engineer, or manager who does not need in-depth knowledge of the technology or cannot dedicate four (4) or more days from their schedule.  This course will be beneficial to individuals:

  • As an introduction to the capabilities of vibration analysis.
  • Managing or supervising the efforts of vibration specialists.
  • Needing to understand vibration analysis reports.
  • Evaluating the benefits of starting a vibration based predictive maintenance program.

  • Introduction to Vibration
  • Vibration Units (Amplitude, Frequency and Phase)
  • Vibration Sensors (Accelerometers and Shaft Displacement)
  • Vibration Diagnostic Plots (Trend, Spectrum and Time Waveform)
  • Vibration Analysis of Ball & Roller Bearings, Imbalance, Misalignment, Mechanical Looseness, Gears and Resonance
  • Vibration Standards
